Review: All-New 2025 GMC Terrain SUV
Previously, the first generation GMC Terrain model was introduced in 2010, while the second generation crossover debuted for the 2018 model year. Now, the third generation model is coming soon and is scheduled to debut on the 2025 GMC Terrain. GM Authority has provided details about the 2025 GMC Terrain that will be released soon.
The GMC Terrain AT4 off-road trim level will be better executed on the 2025 GMC Terrain, of course with improved off-road performance and a more rugged appearance. This also includes the General Grabber AT tires that will likely be included on the new Elevation trim level to the lineup.
Design
The 2025 GMC Terrain will also of course be available as a five-door compact crossover and its overall dimensions and footprint will be similar to the current-generation model. However, the exterior styling of the new 2025 Terrain will be completely redesigned with a more expressive design and upright profile compared to the current model. Mark Reuss, GM president, said the design of the 2025 GMC Terrain will have the appearance of a great, sturdy truck.
In addition, the 2025 GMC Terrain also features a new headlight design with the application of the more prominent GMC characteristic C-shaped headlights which are also reflected by the C-shaped taillights and dual exhaust system. Also look out for new wheel designs with the AT4 model and the potential for the Elevation to feature a more expressive look.
Interior
GMC fans will be thrilled that the 2025 GMC Terrain will feature a completely redesigned interior with improved ergonomics and increased usable space. In addition to a new gauge cluster and a new infotainment system with a larger screen, a fully digital gauge cluster will be available on higher trim levels.
Not only that, there will be a new steering wheel, new colors, new materials, and improved safety technology, and possibly a GM Super Cruise system.
Engine
The 2025 GMC Terrain will also be equipped with a new compact-displacement turbocharged engine that will provide the propulsion, paired with a GM nine-speed automatic transmission. Both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive will be offered to bring down the power.
The 2025 GMC Terrain will be powered by the D2–2 architecture, essentially an updated version of the GM D2 platform that underlies the current model. The latest technology features will be supported by GM Global B electronic architecture.
Release Date and Production
Seeing such rapid production, it can be expected that it will take place at GM’s San Luis Potosi facility in Mexico. Production will apparently begin in mid-calendar year 2024 with the first units arriving in late 2024 or early 2025. The 2025 GMC Terrain will be available for purchase in North America, the Middle East, and South Korea.
